Nitro RC Trucks for Beginners – Part 3
Jun 11th
Preparing a brand new Nitro RC Truck requires a few steps to get the truck set up properly.
Plan to spend about an hour. Your engine is brand new and needs to be primed and broken in properly to adjust from new-factory mode to lubricated and ready for abuse mode (and you will abuse it – that's the fun part!).
If you live at high altitudes like we do (Colorado), it took a 3-second adjustment of a screwdriver to adjust the 'lean' setting of the fuel. Just a 1/2 turn (the manual shows you how, very easy).
The steps are broken into 5 distinct cycles, each one using up a full tank of fuel. Resist the dark-side temptation to blast full throttle and charge up hills — you need to break the engine in so you have it purring like it should. Just do it right — you'll be glad you did…

Finally a video and screenshots which show you what you really want to know.
If you're considering a Nitro RC Truck, you want to know exactly what's in the box. What you do or don't have to do as far as assembly. What exactly do you get for $450 anyway?
Take a look as we open up a brand new box on the most popular Nitro RC Truck in the world – the Traxxas Tmaxx.
Be sure to purchase Nitro fuel for the RC Vehicle as well. You can buy this online or at your local hobby store. You don't have to buy Traxxas branded fuel, but you do need to buy the right fuel mixture (this Tmaxx uses 20% nitro fuel). A big gallon like this one runs $25-$40 — it'll fill a ton of tanks.

Nitro RC Trucks for Beginners – Part 1
Jun 10th
Getting started with Nitro RC (gas powered remote control vehicles) requires a little time.
If you're a beginner or thinking about moving up to a Nitro RC Truck, you probably have the same questions I did. Before I spend $300, $400, $500, or more on a Nitro RC, I wanted to know:
- What exactly is INSIDE the box?
- What do I NEED to get started?
- What STEPS to take to start driving (burning in the motor)?
There's tons of videos showing the cars/trucks racing, but hardly anything showing exactly what you HAVE TO DO! So we created a series ourselves!
In part 1, I show you a brand new Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3 Nitro RC Truck. It's still-in-shrink-wrap new. We open it up, and show you what to do & what's inside…
Watch for Part 2 – where we open up the box and look inside.
In Part 3 – we fuel, run, and demonstrate the proper burn-in of the engine.
Check it out!
